The following types of financial aid are available at Red Rocks Community College, based on the information you provide on your financial aid application. Your first step to apply is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If you are ASSET-eligible, or if you are an international, undocumented, or DACAmented student, complete the Colorado Application for Student Financial Aid (CASFA).
RRCC Financial Aid Packaging Policy
Our policy is to package all "free" grant and scholarship funding before offering self-help aid like work-study and loans. The Federal Pell Grant is an entitlement and will be offered to eligible students before all other types of aid. We will then offer work-study and subsidized Federal Direct Student Loans up to a student's cost of attendance. Some students do not have any financial need according to their financial aid application. These students may only be offered an unsubsidized (interest-bearing) student loan and may have the opportunity to earn work-study. We recommend completing the financial aid application and talking to the Financial Aid Office about your options, regardless of your financial need.
Grants are usually offered based on financial need and do not have to be repaid. Grant amounts are determined by the information you provide on the CASFA/FAFSA as well as your enrollment status (how many credits you are taking that count toward your declared program of study at RRCC). The amount of your grant will be reduced, or pro-rated, if you are taking fewer than 12 credits in any semester. With the exception of the Federal Pell Grant, funding is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. There could be times a student may show eligibility, but funds may not be available.
Typical Award - Up to $7,395 per calendar year (effective for the 2023-2024 aid year). Pro-rated based on enrollment in classes that count toward your declared RRCC program of study. See pro-rated amounts here (Fall 2023 through Summer 2024).
