Medical Office Technology

As a medical administrative person you are the first person a patient encounters in the health facility as well as the one who verifies insurance, schedules, answers patient phone calls, verifies medical billing and manages the office workflow. If you are organized, compassionate and enjoy working with people you have some of the skills necessary to lead to success in a medical administrative office career.

Program Overview

Our mission is to prepare competent entry-level medical assistants in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills) and affective (behavior) learning domains.

Employment is primarily in clinics, urgent care, and ambulatory care facilities. Medical Office students learn office administration skills and office management.

The AAS certificate can be earned in as little as 2 1/2 semesters.

AMONG THE FASTEST GROWING OCCUPATIONS- These are among the fastest growing occupations in Colorado and in the nation due to technological advances in medicine and a growing and aging population needing outpatient care. The college environmental scan (2014) for the four county service region shows a growth demand of 14% for the medical assisting profession. National data shows the Medical Office career as a high growth area for the next ten years and in Colorado, with an anticipated national job growth rate of 23% from 2014 to 2024  for medical assisting according to the National Bureau of Labor Statistics.

MEDICAL ASSISTING
A health professional who works alongside a provider, usually in a clinical setting.
CERTIFICATE:   2 ½ semesters
AAS degree with CERTIFICATE: 5 semesters
Currently a 79% student passage rate for the National AAMA certification

MEDICAL OFFICE ADMINISTRATION
Personnel providing a variety of administrative and support tasks for the clinical setting.
CERTIFICATE:4 ½- 5 semesters

MEDICAL BILLING & CODING
A professional in charge of processing billing data for medical providers
CERTIFICATE: 1 ½ semesters
Graduates are able to sit for the AAPC CPC national certification
