- Internship Details:
- Students choosing the internship option must find their own suitable site.
- The internship site must be established with the college and approved by the Program Director no later than Week 10 of the semester that precedes the internship.
- The internship requires 135 hours to be completed on-site and must be planned for at least 3 days per week.
- Criminal background check and drug screening (completed at the student’s expense through the approved RRCC provider) are required only if the internship option is selected.
Students complete the program in two semesters:
First Semester
- HPR 1040: Comprehensive Medical Terminology (3 credits)
- MOT 1040: Insurance Billing (3 credits)
- MOT 2040: Advanced Insurance Billing (3 credits)
Second Semester
- MOT 1084: Billing Specialist Internship (2 credits) OR MOT 2089: Capstone (2 credits)
Completion Requirements
- All courses must be passed with a grade of "C" or better.
Graduates of the Medical Billing and Coding Certificate program will:
- Master the skills necessary to accurately code and bill for healthcare services.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Be prepared to take the National Certified Professional Coding (CPC) exam. *
