Our instructors have a wealth of experience to share with students, and we have a variety of course options. We offer many transferable (GT) courses that meet the natural science requirement for AA, AS, AGS, and AAS degrees.
Nearly all of our courses incorporate field trips as a key part of the educational experience. We even offer extended Field Courses that provide the opportunity for in-depth geological exploration of geologically-exciting places such as the Big Island of Hawaii. The RRCC Geology Program incorporates hands-on interactive models in labs to help students better understand key course concept. See our stream table and Augmented Reality Sandbox in action in the video below.
Each term, we also offer short-term weekend classes on specific geologic topics for one, two, or three credits. Examples include a 1-credit course on Rock & Mineral ID, a 2-credit course about Caves, and a 3-credit course on The Geology of Colorado. These are a great way to explore a topic of interest, fill a schedule, and earn college credit.
Getting your degree and/or certificate in Geology provides you with many career paths. Depending on your area of focus and your goals, you will be prepared for a wide range of careers, including:
