Scars: Unmasked :: Lakewood Campus

Thursday, October 17, 2024 - 7:00pm to Saturday, October 19, 2024 - 9:00pm

The Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) Theatre Arts and Dance Department and College Gateway will premiere Scars: Unmasked on October 17, 18, and 19 at 7 PM in the RRCC Theater. The show is directed by Ammon Underhill with choreography by Austin Marquez. A team of six writers aided in the development of the script: Dina Faye Gilmore, Apple Hultzapple, Felice Locker, Mark Sbani, Ammon Underhill, and Lisa Wagner Erickson.

Scars is a truly collaborative production inspired by the students College Gateway and their personal stories of transformation. The College Gateway Program was established in 2006 by Catherine Lachman, a former police officer and Coordinator of the Community Policing project for the State of Colorado. This innovative program was designed to support individuals re-entering society after serving time in the criminal justice system. Since its inception, the program has welcomed approximately 1,900 participants from across the state of Colorado.

There will be a talkback after each show, giving audience members an opportunity to ask questions about the Gateway Program and its impact not just on the lives of individuals, but families and communities.
