EMT/AEMT Refresher Information

The EMT Refresher course at Red Rocks Community College follows the National EMS Education Standards for recertification of an EMT or AEMT certificate. It is approved by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Completion of the course satisfies all requirements for recertification of a Colorado EMT or AEMT certificate, and the requirements for National Registry EMT or AEMT recertification. Please visit with a faculty member to discuss the renewal of an AEMT certificate

Check the schedule each semester to see when this course is offered. 

One of the following is required 

  • Current, or less than 6 months expired, Colorado EMT/AEMT certification 
  • Current NREMT EMT/AEMT certification 
  • Proof of EMT/AEMT course completion within the last two years 
  • Confirmation from NREMT that a refresher course will [partially] meet the recertification requirements of an expired NREMT EMT/AEMT certification.  Visit the NREMT lapsed certification page for more information  

Bring proof of pre-requisites to the first day of class

It is highly recommended that you take Biology 1006 (BIO 1006) during this semester if your goal is to complete either the Emergency Medical Technology degree, or the Fire and Emergency Services degree.

You can refer to the academic calendar for specific dates regarding when registration opens each semester. Registration is open enrollment, and students are admitted to the program on a first-come, first-served basis.
