Radiologic Technology Application

Before applying to the program, you will need to be registered with Red Rocks Community College. 
Submit the online program application during the application window of December 1- January 31.
Applications submitted outside of the application window, or that contain unreadable, missing, incomplete or incorrect information will not be considered. 

Online application (PDF attachments):

1.  All pre-requisites (which include general education requirements) must be formally documented in the program application to be eligible for consideration.  *To ensure candidate eligibility for program entry, it is the candidate’s responsibility to get all pre-reqs accepted by Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) and documented on the RRCC transcript within 6 weeks of completing the pre-req. Contact Student Records for more information.

Transcripts are required for all completed pre-reqs. Transcripts are not required for in-progress pre-reqs.  Pre-reqs may be in-progress at time of application, but must be completed by May of the program start year. The below pre-req documentation is required with your application:

  • Radiologic Technology Pre-Req Form
  • RRCC Unofficial Transcript: Required for all COMPLETED pre-reqs taken at, or transferred to RRCC.  Circle the pre-reqs on the transcript that you have listed on the Radiologic Technology Pre-Req Form.
  • Other Unofficial Transcripts: Required for all COMPLETED pre-reqs that do not appear on the RRCC Unofficial Transcript at the time of application.  Circle the pre-reqs on the transcript that you have listed on the Radiologic Technology Pre-Req Form.

2. Resume, to include:
* Paid Patient Care Experience (optional): paid employment in patient care within the last 10 years, providing face to face medical services to patients as a member of a team of professional healthcare providers, in a medical or in-home environment.  Experience in specific patient care fields listed here will result in higher points. 
* Community Service (optional): any amount of volunteer (unpaid) experience in the last 5 years will earn points. 

3. Two letters of reference, dated within the last 2 years, with a signature and phone contact information. Letters are scored based on quality of content. Letters from supervisors and/or healthcare professionals will receive more points. 

4. Essay:
The essay portion of the application is worth the most points in our application scoring process, and is based on quality of content. In your essay, address the following:

  • Why do you want to become a radiologic technologist?
  • Give specific, compelling examples of how you demonstrated both initiative and integrity in the past, as a student or an employee.
  • As a radiologic technology student, how will you go above and beyond expectations in both the healthcare internship facility and classroom?

Format: Include a title page, 2-3 pages (not including title page), double-spaced, 12 pt font, 1" margins 


5. Job Shadowing Forms (optional)
Job Shadowing is optional, but strongly recommended.  Shadowing hours must be done with a licensed radiologic technologist and the completed RRCC Radiologic Technologist job shadowing form must be submitted with the application to receive credit. The school does not arrange or recommend sites. Points are awarded based on hours reported on job shadowing form(s). 1 point is awarded for every hour of shadowing, up to a maximum of 10 hours.

How the Applications are Scored

Applications are scored based on the below items, listed from highest to lowest score weight:

  1. Essay
  2. GPA in pre-requisite coursework
  3. Overall Quality of Application (comprehension of requirements, accuracy, completion)
  4. Paid Patient Care Experience
  5. Job Shadowing
  6. Letters of Reference
  7. Community Service

Timeline for Admissions Process 

  1. Application Window: Dec 1- Jan 31
  2. Notification of Interview: February
  3. Interviews: March
  4. Offer of Preliminary Acceptance: April
  5. Completion of Screening Process: June
  6. Official Acceptance into Program: Early-July
  7. Orientation: Mid-July

  8. First Day of Program: Mid-August
