Accessibility Services offers support and accommodations to students with disabilities at Red Rocks Community College (RRCC).  This office is committed to removing barriers for students with disabilities to create equal access to the opportunities at RRCC.  Accessibility Services staff make determinations of appropriate accommodations and provide support for students with disabilities.  Sign Language interpreting, books in alternate format, testing accommodations and assistive technology are some of the accommodations and services that are provided.

Behavioral Health Services

Life stresses may sometimes interfere with academic success. RRCC partners with Jefferson Center for Mental Health to provide behavioral health assessment, short-term counseling (up to 6 sessions per semester) and referral at no cost to current students. Services are now located within the Student Health & Counseling Center at the Lakewood campus and once a week by appointment at the Arvada Campus Health & Counseling Center. Red Rocks Community College also offers an opportunity for students to meet with a trained Peer Coaches, via the Peer Counseling Program, for unlimited, private, peer to peer meetings. Peer Coaches are not counselors, but trained listeners and have the ability to refer students to a number of resources both on campus and in the community as needed. Coming soon (official opening in Spring 2019), the RRCC Lakewood Campus will also feature the Healthy Minds Resource Center as an epicenter for mental health related resources as well as providing a safe, stigma free area to openly discuss mental health issues, concerns, and questions.

Children’s Center

Located on the Lakewood campus, the Children’s Center provides a comprehensive childcare preschool program for children 18 months to 5 years of age. This service is provided for students, staff, and the community.

The Den

Financial Aid

Honors Program (Dr. John U. Trefny Honors)

Become part of a community of scholars, be involved with advanced projects, internships, service learning, and travel opportunities. Trefny Honors is a two-year program intended to help prepare students for transfer and develop knowledge, skills and abilities that will benefit each student. Once admitted to the program, the Honors student receives scholarships, specialized advising, takes Honors classes, and becomes part of a student community. This program is a STEM focused, exceptional RRCC experience. Students are accepted each Fall semester. Develop your leadership, explore complex issues, and utilize creative problem solving with Trefny Honors.

The HUB is home for experiential learning opportunities and high-impact practices. Programs in The HUB provide applied opportunities for students to engage in a different type of learning for unmatched success in their next stage of education or employment. Opportunities include: internships and career help, entrepreneurship mentoring, engineering and STEM projects, service learning courses, student academic travel, intercultural education opportunities, honors programming, and much more. This office provides college preparatory English classes for international and resident students for whom English is not their primary language. It provides academic and cultural advising for a diverse student population, and specific immigration advising for international students. ISS offers English language classes for students who have not placed into ENG 121. English language tutoring, admissions, advising (academic and cultural) services, cultural and language consulting services for faculty and staff are available. ISS supports travel-study opportunities for US students, and provides co-curricular programming supportive of global learning.

The RRCC library provides quiet study areas, access to computers, and private study rooms for group or individual study. The library offers physical and electronic resources to support the RRCC curriculum as well as instruction sessions and research consultations to support student learning. Physical collections include reserve textbooks, faculty-curated book selections, educational films, an ESL collection, and popular and scholarly books. Online services include article databases, ebooks, and streaming video, all of which are accessible from on and off campus at any time. The library provides one-on-one research consultations with a librarian and a 24/7 chat reference service. The library’s collections and services are designed to support all students, faculty and staff. The goal of the library is to provide access to promote information literacy in support of self-directed learning, academic achievement, and career accomplishment.

Campus Police/Lost & Found

Serving both the Lakewood and Arvada campuses, Campus Police responds to medical emergencies, investigates criminal acts and traffic accidents, enforces parking and traffic violations, and opens and secures campus buildings. Safety escorts are provided upon request, assistance with car battery jumpstarts, and delivery of emergency messages are also available. Campus Police is also home to Lost and Found and is located inside of the main entrance to the left.

Student Government

Red Rocks Student Government, the voice of the students, represents the interests of the student body and provides real-life experience in leadership responsibilities. Members work with the college’s administration to set policy, participate in college committees and plan various activities. To join student government, you must be enrolled at RRCC with a minimum of 6 credits and maintain a 2.5 GPA. Business meetings are held every Thursday in the Grays Peak Room RWE 1571.

The Office of Student Life is the hub for extra-curricular programs and services. You can get information on clubs and organizations, rent lockers, get your student ID, check out a video game, buy discount tickets for local movie theaters, visit the student food bank, make copies, send faxes, and more. Student Health & Counseling Center

The center is a full, family practice medical center available to all students who have paid the health center fee when registering for classes. Services provided include: annual physicals, well women exams, program physicals, evaluation and treatment of common illnesses, minor procedures (stitches, vaccinations) and behavioral health services. Prescriptions, lab tests, and imaging can be ordered by the providers as needed. Additional costs may apply.

Dedicated to providing students and employees with the tools necessary to reach their fitness and wellness related goals, the
center hosts a variety of fitness opportunities such as: cardio machines, a free weight area, functional training zone, selectorized machines, basketball courts, climbing wall, bouldering wall, and group fitness classes. Use of the center is contingent on presenting a current RRCC ID.

Veteran Services

Services are available to support military and veteran students as they transition to RRCC. Our certifying official assists students with VA educational benefit funding and reports to Veteran Affairs on behalf of the student.
