RRCC Celebrated 40 Years of Excellence
The year 1969 was eventful. Here are just a few things that happened...
Neil Armstrong became the first human to set foot on the Moon...WOODSTOCK entertained more than 400,000 avid music fans... The average price of gas was 35 cents per gallon... ...and Red Rocks Community College was established!
As RRCC turned 40, we look back on some history of our own. Originally established as the Community College of Denver's West campus, RRCC has grown from a satellite building with a few hundred students, to two campuses where 14,000 students attend each year. Our dozens of career fields served the business needs of the time, but we now offer over 300 programs in areas from Animation to Zoology!
And some exciting things have happened this past year. Our Energy Technology program is rapidly expanding, providing training for green careers in solar and natural resources jobs in water quality management; RRCC was the recipient of a 2008 Governor's Excellence in Renewable Energy Award; and RRCC has teamed up with a major refinery to provide training for high-demand careers in Process Technology.
Although degrees, job titles, and workforce needs have changed over the past 40 years, the focus of Red Rocks Community College has remained the same-to provide students with high-quality, affordable, accessible education.RRCC's programs prepare students for rewarding careers in an environment that is supportive and inspiring.
Whether you plan to start your career, move up in your field, or to seek a new opportunity, you will find success here at Red Rocks Community College.
